Every weekday the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer releases the Homestretch audio feature in time for the last hour of trading on Wall Street. Here’s today’s edition. Losing steam : The market tried to climb into positive territory — but for the most part, the rally lost steam as Treasury yields edged higher. But it’s not all red, with the Magnificent Seven tech stocks and other semiconductor and software names trending higher. This back-and-forth nature of the group shows it may be difficult to read into the trading patterns at the beginning of the year. The first week of the year we made a series of trims to our mega-cap tech stocks after their massive rallies in 2023. We raised some cash so we can be ready to put money to work if needed. Energy buy : We did so earlier Tuesday, adding 300 shares of our oil and natural gas producer Coterra Energy to the portfolio. We like the name given how poorly energy stocks have traded in recent months. At the same time, we don’t want to ignore the group. So if we had to pick a company, we prefer Coterra. It was the only energy stock in the S & P 500 up Tuesday and one of five in the green so far this year. The company has a great balance sheet, great execution, and a nice mix between oil and natural gas. Tuesday movers : Club stock movers in the portfolio included some big tech and software names like Palo Alto Networks , Nvidia , Alphabet and Amazon . Elsewhere, Constellation Brands ticked higher. The beer, wine and spirits company has been up nicely since earnings last Friday. Portfolio stocks on the downside included GE Healthcare , Wynn , Disney , Wells Fargo , and Morgan Stanley . (See here for a full list of the stocks in Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust.) As a subscriber to the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer, you will receive a trade alert before Jim makes a trade. Jim waits 45 minutes after sending a trade alert before buying or selling a stock in his charitable trust’s portfolio. If Jim has talked about a stock on CNBC TV, he waits 72 hours after issuing the trade alert before executing the trade.
