California Senator Dianne Feinstein was transported to the hospital after collapsing at her San Francisco home on Tuesday, according to her staff and personnel. This is the latest medical setback for the longtime Democrat politician.

“Senator Feinstein briefly went to the hospital yesterday afternoon as a precaution after a minor fall in her home. All of her scans were clear and she returned home,” her office said in a statement on Wednesday.

The 90-year-old senator was hospitalized with shingles and complications from the condition earlier this year, keeping her from duties in Washington, D.C., for over three months. She reportedly recuperated at home for several weeks, postponing Senate activity.

The collapse comes just days after Insider revealed that Feinstein has handed down to her daughter the role of power of attorney and that some of her colleagues are concerned about her present health and mental cognition.

Feinstein’s fall was originally reported by TMZ on Wednesday.

After returning to Washington earlier this year, Feinstein claimed that she “hadn’t been gone,” according to the Los Angeles Times. Last month, a clearly befuddled Feinstein also had to be reminded many times by colleagues to merely vote “aye” instead of making remarks in a committee hearing.

Feinstein is not the only senator whose health has recently sparked worry on Capitol Hill.

Last month, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, 81, appeared to be unable to talk and “froze” during a press conference. According to a McConnell aide, he was just “lightheaded.”

Many critics have accused both McConnell and Feinstein of being too senile to continue working in their positions, as made evident by the recent blunders.

Democrat Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also expressed her thoughts regarding the senior Senator.

“[Feinstein] should retire. I think criticisms of that stance as ‘anti-feminist’ are a farce,” Ocasio-Cortez posted on Bluesky, a social media app.
