Potential briefing topics:

  • Supreme Court candidates: President Trump said Monday afternoon that he met with four potential candidates to fill retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s seat. Mr. Trump plans to make the decision on Kennedy’s replacement this week and will announce his pick next Monday;
  • Trump-Putin summit: National Security Adviser John Bolton said during a press conference last week that a date and location have been agreed upon for a summit between Mr. Trump and Russian President Vladmir Putin. On the table at that meeting is the future of Syria;
  • North Korean denuclearization: In an interview with Fox Business Network, Mr. Trump said that while he trusts North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, “it’s possible” that their preliminary agreement to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula may fall apart. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is reportedly preparing for his third trip to North Korea later this week.
