Authorities respond to helicopter crash in NYC

NEW YORK — Authorities are responding to a helicopter crash in New York City’s East River. A Eurocopter AS350 went down in the East River near Roosevelt Island around 7 p.m. Sunday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement. It said the helicopter is reportedly is inverted in the water.

The FAA said local authorities will confirm the number of people on board, their names and conditions.

The FAA is investigating the incident and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will determine probable cause of the accident.

Social media video appeared to show the moment the chopper crashed into the river Sunday.
