On Saturday July 13th, Hendersonville Police Department officers were notified about a child who had drowned in Drakes Creek in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

When detectives began investigating the passing of the child, they identified Brandi Ellito, her mother, as the one responsible for the death.

According to court documents, Elliott said she wanted alone time “after having a rough day.”

She continued telling authorities that she had left her apartment and went to the bottom of the stairwell but her daughter came to join her. The girl reportedly refused to leave Elliott alone and did not want to stay at the apartment by herself.

Elliott then said she took her daughter across the street and held her under the water “like a largemouth bass” in a shallow area until she felt her “bubbling” and told her to be quiet while she held her under the water.

After pulling the child from the water, Elliot realized what she had done and tried to revive her with CPR.

The 7-year-old was then taken to Hendersonville hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Elliott was charged with first-degree murder and is being held in the Sumner County Jail.

A memorial has been set up for the child near where she was drowned.

The Hendersonville Police Department have asked that anyone with information about the incident to call 615-265-5303 or Hendersonville Crime Stoppers at 615-594-4113.
