Burgum was taken to a Milwaukee emergency room on Tuesday, after suffering a basketball injury that required medical attention while playing a pick-up game with his staff, a source told CNN.

The Governor is one of eight candidates who are scheduled to visit the event site on Wednesday afternoon for a walk-through, but it’s unclear whether Burgum will participate.

Burgum has described himself as the least-known candidate, after saying in an interview with NBC he will be successful “if we get a chance to explain who we are, what we’re about and why we’re running.”

The Flickertail State governor is a wealthy former software executive who launched a campaign promise saying he would give the first 50,000 people who donated at least $1 to his campaign gift cards worth $20 in exchange.

Burgum, who is currently serving his second term as Governor, announced his presidential bid in June, with his campaign running on the economy, national security and energy.

The seven other candidates expected to take center stage on the debate floor are Florida Governor Ron Desantis (R-Fla.), Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R-S.C.), Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R-N.J.), former Vice President Mike Pence and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson (R-ARK.).

The debate will air Wednesday at 9 P.M. ET.
