Transcript for Nikki Haley: Trump’s accusers should be heard

The Roy Moore race and the me too movement shined a new light on more than a dozen women who accused president trump of sexual misconduct. Several expected to tell their stories on national television today and yesterday the president’s U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley supported their right to be heard. Women who accuse anyone should be heard. They should be heard and they should be dealt with and I think we heard from that prior to the election and I think any woman who has felt violated or felt mistreated in any way, they have every right to speak up. Let’s bring in Cecilia Vega for more on this and, Cecilia, Nikki Haley not taking the white house line and it’s not the first time. Reporter: Yeah, exactly. This certainly seems to be a pretty big departure from the white house line that they are liars. A few days ago in the briefing room Sarah Sanders said this was settled essentially during the campaign, voters spoke when they elected Donald Trump as the president of the United States. But, look, Haley has publicly as you said parted ways with this president in the past. Most notably over charlottesville, also over election meddling. This issue right now is front and center for this white house. It’s not just Haley, today there are now three democratic senators who are suggesting president trump might want to resign as a result of these accusations, not to mention this conversation happening on a national level. These calls certainly growing louder. You have a new poll out showing 70% of the public believes these claims should be investigated. President trump should be investigated right there. Is the white house feeling this pressure or just holding firm? Reporter: You know, George, they’re holding firm. Not just that number there was another one that jumped out. 73% of Americans in that poll say it’s hypocritical for this president to Abe accusing men — criticizing men accused of sexual misconduct, George, so this isn’t going away for this administration. Okay, Cecilia Vega, thanks very much.
