When it comes to finding online holiday shopping deals, Americans are not only competing against other people but also against automated “bots,” software designed to quickly buy-up huge amounts of popular items and sell them at higher prices. As Mark Strassmann reports, it’s a problem that’s only grown worse since the pandemic began.
