Dow soars 220 points as Wall Street books record highs

Wall Street rallied to new record highs Friday amid another round of strong earnings.

Each of the three major indexes posted a record close. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained about 220 points to 26,613. The S&P 500 jumped 33 points to 2,872. The Nasdaq Composite rose 94 points to 7,505.

Intel (INTC) highlighted the latest string of better-than-expected corporate earnings. The chipmaker’s shares climbed to their highest level in over 17 years before closing roughly 10% higher. Drugmaker AbbVie (ABBV) also reported a quarterly profit that beat expectations, sending shares 13% higher.
