Woman linked to chef’s overdose death denies another

A woman has pleaded not guilty to charges she is behind the overdose death of a man whose body was found in a New York City motel.

Angelina Barini entered the plea Friday in federal court in Brooklyn after prosecutors unsealed an indictment accusing her of causing the death in July by distributing fentanyl.

A previously filed criminal complaint links Barini to two other overdose deaths. One of those victims was Andrea Zamperoni, an Italian chef at a popular restaurant in Grand Central Terminal.

Court papers say Barini is a prostitute who blamed her pimp when investigators questioned her about Zamperoni’s death.

Authorities say there’s an ongoing investigation that could result in more arrests.

Her lawyer did not speak to reporters after her court appearance.
