LONDON (Reuters) – Britain’s lead Brexit negotiator Olly Robbins will leave his role in government shortly after briefing the new prime minister, The Sunday Times’ political editor reported on Saturday.
Robbins had been criticised by Brexiteers for helping negotiate Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal, which has been rejected by lawmakers.
Downing Street did not offer an immediate comment when contacted by Reuters.
Boris Johnson, the frontrunner to succeed May, has a transition team which is preparing to invite EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and the bloc’s Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier to London to reopen talks, the Mail on Sunday reported.
