Every weekday the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer releases the Homestretch audio feature in time for the last hour of trading on Wall Street. Here’s today’s edition. The major U.S. stock benchmarks rallied Wednesday after the Federal Reserve indicated three interest rate cuts could be coming in 2024 — more than central bankers had previously forecast. However, as expected, the Fed left interest rates unchanged at the December policy meeting that concluded Wednesday. The S & P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average rose about 0.8%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite climbed roughly 0.9%. Eli Lilly was one of the best-performing Club holdings Wednesday, climbing about 2%, to more than $596 per share. Before the market opened, billionaire investor and longtime Lilly shareholder Ken Langone argued on CNBC that the company will be the first drugmaker to reach a $1 trillion market value, pointing to the strength of its pipeline. That’s the primary reason we took a stake in the company in 2021. Another strong performer Wednesday is Constellation Brands . The stock is up more than 3% on the session, outperforming the broader consumer staples sector. We’re hopeful this proves to be the start of Constellation waking up in a more sustained way.
