Transcript for Gas prices plunge ahead of Thanksgiving
Now something we can all be thankful for ahead of Thanksgiving, your holiday road trip, it may cost you a little less. Gas prices are plunging. Rebecca Jarvis is at a gas station here in New York City with all the details. Good morning, Rebecca. Reporter: Good morning, Michael. Yeah, that’s right. 54 million Americans are expected to hit the roads over the Thanksgiving holiday and the national average for a gallon of regular this morning is $2.65. That is 23 cents lower than prices were a month ago, in fact, in some states across the country you can even find gas below $2 a gallon. Missouri, Oklahoma, Ohio, Louisiana, Texas, these are all plates with gas stations where you can pay below $2 a gallon for that gas and the best news, Michael, prices are forecast to continue dropping into the Thanksgiving holiday. So prices are going to continue to go down. Any idea how low so we can find out how far we’re going to drive? Reporter: Well, you can see a few pennies lower into the next week. But here’s the even better news, as we hit December, because of the fact that the world is awash in oil right now, you have a high supply and a lower demand for oil, prices for oil have continued to fall Anna means the forecast for gasoline going into December continues to drop so if you do have to get out of your car in this weather you’ll pay a little less for it, Michael. Great news for the holidays. Thank you very much, Rebecca.
