There were about 300 passengers aboard the train, but neither they nor the driver were hurt. The train was able to return to Freiburg, from where passengers were traveling to Switzerland on other trains.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the night train and the construction vehicle were on the same track. Police said they’re investigating whether it was a technical or human error.
