Texas Governor Greg Abbott holds a commanding lead against Democrat opponent Beto O’Rourke. In a poll from Emerson College Polling, Abbott has 50 percent support while O’Rourke only has 42 percent.

This lead is similar to one found by the same polling firm in February. 63 percent of Texas voters expect Abbott to be re-elected while only 37 percent think O’Rourke has a chance to unseat him. Abbott maintains a net positive 12-point favorability rating while O’Rourke is 8 points under.

A debate with Greg Abbott and Beto O’Rourke will be held on Friday, September 30 at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg.
