The Minnesota Twins placed star outfielder Eddie Rosario on the 10-day injured list on Friday due to a sprained left ankle.

The move was retroactive to Thursday.

Rosario suffered the injury during Wednesday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He is batting .282 with 20 homers, 60 RBIs and 51 runs scored in 75 games.

Minnesota also activated infielder Ehire Adrianza (abdomen) from the IL, optioned right-hander Zack Littell to Rochester and recalled left-hander Lewis Thorpe from the same Triple-A affiliate.

Adrianza, who missed the past 10 games, is batting .271 with four homers and 13 RBIs in 43 games this season.

Littell is 1-0 with a 6.97 ERA in five appearances for the Twins this season. Thorpe, 23, is 3-4 with a 5.71 ERA in 14 starts at Rochester. Thorpe has never pitched in a major league game.
