Four people are injured after a shooting at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas, police said Wednesday. The school has been cleared, but a person of interest who is considered “armed and dangerous” is still on the loose, police said.
Police first received a call at about 9:15 a.m. reporting a shooting on the second floor of the high school, according to assistant Arlington police chief Kevin Kolbye. He said four people were injured, and that three of them were taken to the hospital. He did not specify the condition of the injured victims, but believes two are students and one “may have” been a teacher.
Eighteen-year-old Timothy George Simpkins, who is believed to be a student at the school, has been identified as a person of interest. Simpkins has not been apprehended, and is considered to be “armed and dangerous,” police said.
Preliminary information suggests that a student got into a fight with another person in a class, and a gun was used, according to Kolbye.
Students were being taken by school bus to a nearby performing arts center where they would meet their parents, the school district said in a statement obtained by CBS Dallas-Fort Worth.
