House delays vote on compromise GOP immigration bill as chances of passage dim

House Republicans will delay a vote on one of the immigration bills they planned to consider Thursday, as it appeared divisions within the GOP caucus would sink the measure.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy told NBC News that the chamber will instead vote on the so-called compromise bill Friday to give GOP members more time to consider it. The House still plans to vote on a separate, more conservative immigration plan on Thursday afternoon.
