With the Canadian and German two-man bobsledding teams finishing at 3 minutes, 16.86 seconds, both nations shared the gold position at the medal podium. Francesco Friedrich and Thorsten Margis of Germany, and Alexander Kopacz and Justin Kripps of Canada celebrate their victory at the Olympic Sliding Centre, Pyeongchang, South Korea, February 19, 2018.
It was the second time that two 2-men bobsledding teams shared a gold medal; Canada and Italy shared gold in 1998. (In 1998 Italy got the gold over West Germany in 1968, even though both sleds had the same time, because scorekeepers then used a fastest-heat tiebreaker, which gave the Italians the nod.)
