A man was arrested in Florida on Friday morning in connection with the ongoing investigation of 12 suspected mail bombs sent to former president Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and other leading critics of President Donald Trump.
The man, who is in his 50s, is expected to face federal criminal charges, according to NBC News. He is
NBC reported that the man, whose name was not made public, may have previously lived in New York state, and possibly in New York City.
MSNBC was showing images of signicant police activiy around an auto parts store in Plantation, Florida. Investigators were examining a white van plastered with Trump’s name and the presidential seal, according to MSNBC. The network said authorities were looking at “right-wing paraphrenalia” found at the scene.
The Justice Department has scheduled a news conference in the case at 2:30 p.m., Eastern time.
The suspected pipe bombs began being discovered Monday, when an explosive device was found delivered to the Westchester County home of billionaire philanthropist George Soros.
