Stocks post record highs, Dow inches closer to 25K

Wall Street closed at new all-time highs Wednesday, bringing the Dow closer to the 25,000 milestone.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose about 97 points to 24,921. The S&P 500 rallied 17 points to 2,712. The Nasdaq Composite gained 58 points to 7,065.

Stocks reacted positively to minutes from the Federal Reserve’s December meeting. The minutes revealed that policymakers at the central bank expect tax cuts to boost consumer spending and the U.S. economy.
