At least five people were killed and dozens were injured as an apparent tornado tore through a community north of Dallas, Texas, on Saturday night, law enforcement said.

Children were among the dead, Cooke County Sheriff Ray Sappington told WFAA. At least two children were also missing, he said.

The storm tore through a roadside travel center near Valley View, Texas, before continuing through a community of manufactured homes, the sheriff said.

The sheriff had earlier said there were at least two fatalities, and that law enforcement were expecting the death toll to rise.

“I can tell you two, for sure, but I can also tell you that number is going to go up,” Sappington told the local ABC News affiliate. “I don’t want to speculate and give you a number, but I do know it’s going to be more than two.”

More than 60 people were injured, he said.
