Potential briefing topics:

  • Trump re-election: President Trump announced Tuesday morning that he intends to run for re-election during the 2020 presidential election. Mr. Trump is expected to name Brad Parscale, a digital guru, as his campaign manager;
  • Hope Hicks testifies: White House Communications Director Hope Hicks testifies before the House Intelligence Committee Wednesday regarding her role in the Trump campaign and any potential connection the campaign may have had with the Russian government;
  • Gun debate: In light of the high school shooting in Parkland Florida that killed 17 students on Feb. 14, the gun debate in Washington has amped up. In response, the Trump administration has considered banning bump stocks, or devices that attach to semi-autmoatic weapons to make them automatic. The president has also floated the idea of raising the minimum age of purchase for automatic weapons. The White House confirmed that Mr. Trump met with NRA executives over the weekend to discuss gun-related measures.
