Wednesday marks the first outdoor rally that 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has attended since the assassination attempt on his life on July 13th.

Trump’s Secret Service detail has now taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of the former president after the last incident, installing bullet proof glass to surround the podium where Trump would be speaking.

Along with bullet proof glass, Trump’s security team has also positioned tall portable storage units surrounding the whole perimeter of the rally, which inhibits a possible line of sight or shot for any individual not attending the rally.

The increase in security precautions follows after a colossal security lapse that occurred during a July Trump rally, when an unhinged 20-year-old civilian sniper nearly took the former president’s life. The disorganized and chaotic planning by Secret Service and local police resulted in the Secret Service’s director, Kimberly Cheatle, resigning.

Meanwhile, Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio), also attended the North Carolina rally alongside him. North Carolina is considered a key swing state.

“President Trump and I have a message to all the criminal illegals who flooded across Kamala’s wide open southern border: Pack your bags because in 6 months, you are going home,” Vance stated at the rally.

Additionally, The Associated Press spoke to Lisa Watts, a retired business owner and Trump rally-goer from North Carolina who had some words to say about the new Democrat nominee.

“A month ago they never spoke her name and now she’s like, quote quote the ‘savior for the country,’” said Watts, regarding Kamala Harris. “I don’t think that her record proves that she is ready to run this country.”
