For many Holocaust survivors, Russia’s ongoing assault on Ukraine is a painful reminder of the trauma they already endured — and what they hoped their loved ones never would. “It’s hard to wrap my mind around the fact that in ’41, I had to hide in the basement of this building, and that I’m going to have to do that again now,” one said.
