President Trump is delivering a speech at a shale energy conference in the key swing state of Pennsylvania Wednesday, declaring he’s made good on “every promise” he made to the same crowd three years ago.

But it was clear Wednesday the president also had other things on his mind at the Shale Insight conference in Pittsburgh.

“I have witch hunts every week. I say, ‘what’s the witch hunt this week?'” Mr. Trump told the crowd.

Mr. Trump also lambasted Democrats, including local Democratic Rep. Connor Lamb, and Republican Sen. Mitt Romney. The president said the one thing Democrats have going for them is they stick together.

“They don’t have a Mitt Romney in their midst,” he said.

With an impeachment inquiry overshadowing much of his administration one year out from the presidential election, Mr. Trump is trying to argue that his administration is making significant gains from the energy sector.

Mr. Trump touted his administration’s agenda allowing drilling on federal lands, and his administration’s focus on slashing environmental regulations to boost energy development and business productivity.

Several protesters in the back of the room interrupted the president’s speech, decrying the “dangers” of energy production. Mr. Trump said one of the protesters could go home to his mother.
