These are the top 10 most liveable cities in America

Honolulu, Hawaii is the most liveable city in America.

That’s acording to The Economist Intelligence Unit, which provides an annual The Global Liveability Index ranking 140 global cities on categories including healthcare, culture and environment, education, infrastructure and stability (crime, conflict and terrorism).

Honolulu is the only U.S. city in the top 25 with a total liveability score of 94.1 out of 100. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania came in second with a score of 92.1.

Only 10 U.S. cities made the top 50 list (out of 140 global cities surveyed).

The top 10 most liveable cities in America and their rank on the index are:

1. Honolulu, Hawaii (ranked No. 23)

2. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (ranked No. 32)

3. Washington D.C. (ranked No. 37)

4. Minneapolis, Minnesota (ranked No. 39)

5. Boston, Massachusetts (ranked No. 42)

6. Chicago, Illinois (ranked No. 44- tie)

7. Miami, Florida (ranked No. 44- tie)

8. Seattle, Washington (ranked No. 46)

9. San Francisco, California (ranked No. 49)

10. Atlanta, Georgia (ranked No. 50)

Atlanta, Georgia’s liveability score is 88.6.

In the report, American cities fell behind in global ranking as liveability was better abroad — like Vienna, Austria, ranked No. 1, and Melbourne, Australia, ranked No. 2 — though overall scores in the U.S. did improve due to a decline in civil unrest.

Across regions, North America ranked No. 2 overall and comes in at No. 1 in the education category.
