With the Canadian and German two-man bobsledding teams finishing at 3 minutes, 16.86 seconds, both nations shared the gold position at the medal podium. It was the second time that two 2-men bobsledding teams shared a gold medal; Canada and Italy shared gold in 1998. (In 1998 Italy got the gold over West Germany in 1968, even though both sleds had the same time, because scorekeepers then used a fastest-heat tiebreaker, which gave the Italians the nod.)
