Sanders thanks Iowa for a “very strong victory” despite recanvass

Bernie Sanders declared victory in the Iowa caucuses on Thursday, even though Democratic National Committee chair Tom Perez called for a recanvass. Sanders had a lead in the popular vote while Pete Buttigieg had a razor-thin lead in delegates. “When 6,000 more people come out for you in an election than your nearest opponent, we here in Northern New England call that a victory,” Sanders said Thursday.
