President Trump is hitting back at prosecutors in New York after a Manhattan district attorney convened a special grand jury to consider evidence in a criminal investigation against the Trump Organization.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the 45th president spoke against the Democrat-led probe while calling the investigation “a continuation of the greatest witch hunt in American history.” His comments came after New York State Attorney General Letitia James announced the criminal probe last week.

“Our civil investigation continues, but we are now actively investigating the Trump organization in a criminal capacity and we are working alongside, cooperating with, Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance,” James announced. “As was mentioned in I believe some newspaper, two of our assistant attorney generals have been cross designated as district attorneys.”

President Trump pointed out that Democrats “wasted two years and 48 million in taxpayer dollars on the Russia investigation and both impeachment hoaxes, while using illegally leaked confidential information to back their claims.” He further argued the criminal probe is “purely political” and is being driven by highly partisan Democrat prosecutors.

The 45th president went to finish his remarks by stating, “our country is broken, our elections are rigged, corrupt and stolen, our prosecutors are politicized and I will just have to keep on fighting like I have been for the last five years!”

President Trump has previously voiced his criticisms on the New York probe, noting how Democrats have failed at every stage of their investigation. The new grand jury is expected to review evidence for three days a week for the next six months.
