Authorities say a Pennsylvania man and his teenage girlfriend plotted to have her stepfather killed after he caught them in bed together

CASCADE, Pa. — A man and his teenage girlfriend plotted to have her stepfather killed after he caught them in bed together, but the plan was foiled when the hit man they tried to hire went to police, authorities said.

The charges against Dillian Mikel Weaver, 19, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and the 16-year-old girl, of nearby Cascade, include conspiracy and solicitation to commit murder, authorities said. The Associated Press is not naming the stepdaughter because she is being charged as a juvenile.

Bail has been set at $1 million each for Weaver and the girl, who were charged Friday. Authorities didn’t immediately return a message seeking information on attorneys who might be able to speak for the defendants.

After the stepfather found the couple Thursday morning, Weaver left the family’s home. The girl then said that her stepfather had slapped and punched her, and to get Weaver angry told him on social media that he had also sexually assaulted her — a claim she later told police she had fabricated, authorities said in arrest documents.

Weaver then reached out to a woman via social media and discussed his wish to have the stepfather killed, authorities said. The woman directed Weaver to a possible hit man, authorities said, and Weaver contacted him and described a scheme to kill the stepfather, according to the documents.

The man Weaver had contacted told authorities of the plot Thursday night and said he initially thought it was a joke. Pennlive, citing the arrest documents, said he gave investigators a screenshot of a text exchange between Weaver and the woman that read in part:

“He gets off work at 5:30 so we’d have to be there before him and get him as soon as he gets out of his truck before he goes inside. We need to cover our faces … they have cameras there.”

The exchange ended with: “Just gotta take his body and dispose of him somewhere. So he’s never heard from..or found.”

The arrest documents also describe a text from Weaver to his girlfriend: “Baby I need you to tell me that it’s OK if this happens to him. Like you’re OK with him dying. I need confirmation msg as soon as you can about this.”

The girl responded, according to police: “Yes baby. I have zero affection for him. We’ve talked about it. I just don’t want to lose you is my concern that’s all.”

The only time money was discussed was when the woman — who has not been charged — told the would-be hit man she could give him $30 for gas, authorities said.

Weaver later met with an undercover officer who recorded him saying he wanted the stepfather dead, authorities said.

Weaver’s girlfriend told investigators that it was his idea to kill her stepfather and that she was on board, according to the charges. She later claimed that she just wanted him hurt, authorities said.
