GM CEO reportedly meets with UAW leaders in bid to end strike

General Motors CEO Mary Barra reportedly had a rendezvous earlier this week with the heads of the United Auto Workers in an effort to end the 25-day old strike.

Barra met with union president Gary Jones and vice president Terry Dittes, the New York Post reports, citing two people familiar with the meeting.

UAW members have been on strike for almost four weeks, which according to an analysis released Thursday from Anderson Economic Group, will have erased more than $1 billion of GM’s profits through Oct. 13.

The strike has also caused more than $624 million of lost wages for UAW members while costing the federal government and the state of Michigan $250 million and $13.8 million respectively, according to Anderson Economic Group.
