FBI Director Christopher Wray testified he is unaware of any investigation into President Donald Trump’s role in the Jan. 6 Capitol breach. On Thursday, there was a hearing held before the House Judiciary Committee where Wray stated he could neither confirm nor deny whether former aides or members of Congress were under investigation either.
Wray insisted serious charges will begin surfacing in the criminal investigations into the events of Jan 6. Wray added, “certainly we were aware of online chatter about the potential for violence, but I’m not aware that we had any intelligence indicating that hundreds of individuals were going to storm the Capitol itself.”

House Judiciary Committee chair Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), described the FBI’s handling of the Jan. 6 Capitol breach as an “intelligence failure.” Nadler said the demonstration was provoked by militia groups on popular social media platforms. However, Wray said he didn’t know whether there had been any tips received from any social media companies.
The FBI’s reputation has been tarnished over the past few years after fired FBI agent Peter Strzok and ex-FBI lawyer Lisa Page tried to prevent Trump’s election victory.
