2 officers shot while trying to apprehend murder suspect

The suspect was shot and has died, police said.

Two Baltimore, Maryland, police officers were shot Tuesday morning while trying to apprehend a murder suspect, according to authorities.

The officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries from the 8 a.m. shooting in the parking lot of Security Square Mall, Baltimore County police said.

The suspect, who fired multiple rounds at the officers, was also shot and has died, police said.

The 32-year-old suspect was wanted for a June 19 murder in Baltimore, Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison told reporters.

Baltimore police said the two officers involved were on the Warrant Apprehension Task Force. They were working with the U.S. Marshals regional fugitive task force at the time of the shooting, according to a law enforcement source.

The injured officers are “alert” and “upbeat,” Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said.
