Intense tornadoes are possible, as well as large hail and damaging winds.

A tornado watch is in effect for parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana through 8 p.m. local time Wednesday.

In that area — including Shreveport and Little Rock — intense tornadoes are possible, as well as large hail and damaging winds up to 70 mph.

In Missouri, a severe thunderstorm watch was issued through 7 p.m local time. Winds up to 70 mph and large hail are the main threats there, but a tornado is also possible.

The strong storms will move east into Mississippi and Tennessee through the night.

The next storm will strike the South on Friday, bringing more severe weather from Texas to Alabama.
