In April 1972, the Chinese government gifted the U.S. a pair of giant pandas in an effort to improve relations between the countries. Since then, pandas have become a major attraction at the National Zoo, and continue to be a bridge of diplomacy between the two superpowers. Nancy Cordes has more.
