‘Multiple fatalities’ confirmed after a shooting at a bar in Thousand Oaks, California

A shooting at a restaurant in an L.A. suburb has caused “multiple fatalities,” local authorities said late Wednesday.

Police officials were called to the incident around 11:20 p.m. local time with reports of people injured at the Borderline Bar & Grill in the City of Thousand Oaks, California. According to a local NBC News report, at least 11 people had been shot, including a deputy sheriff. Police have also confirmed there has been “multiple fatalities.”

Ventura County Sheriff’s Dept. Capt. Garo Kuredjian said that “hundreds” were believed to be inside the bar at the time of shooting. The sheriff’s office told NBC Los Angeles that the shooter had been killed.

“We can confirm that there are several people that have been injured inside the bar and grill, including one deputy sheriff that was transported. I can’t tell you the condition of either the deputy or those that are injured inside,” Kuredjian told local press after the incident.

The report further stated that the incident took place during an event called Borderline’s College Night. A local media reporter Jeremy Childs tweeted photos and videos from the incident.
